Ken Graves
Owner/Therapist
I love my job. I never thought I’d say that, but I do. I love helping people transform right before my eyes. When my clients come in they are often lost, confused, and unsure about how to live their life to the fullest. The best part about my job is when we can sit down and plan to ACTUALLY make life better. I love working with families that need assistance in creating what they never had. I love working with children and giving them the support I never had. I love working with adults and giving them hope that things CAN and WILL be different. I enjoy working with folks that have had poor experiences with therapy in the past. I get to be a positive experience for them. What I love most of all is that I work in an environment where I am able to choose who I get to work with, what we want to work on, and I get to partner with my new team in bettering our lives together.
I have been in the therapy field for almost 10 years, helping children, adults, and families get the help they need. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and strive to be the best that I can be. I have a wife, a dog, and a cat and use my life experiences in the sessions. I believe that therapy is about the relationships and want you to use me throughout the week. Something that makes me different is that my clients have my cellphone number and are ENCOURAGED to reach out throughout the week for in the moment support and feedback. I often reach out to my clients to see how they are doing and how they can use what we work on outside of the therapy office. I love playing golf in my free time, even though I suck at it, and enjoy Angel’s Baseball (even when they suck too). My clients tell me that I am easy to talk to and at the end of the day I want you to know that I care about you and the work that we do together.

I believe in transparency, honesty, and an open trusting relationship above all else. Since I was little I was always a helper to others, and knew I wanted to be a therapist when I saw the positive change it made in myself and others. I understand that the negative experiences and trauma we have experienced create a lasting impact that makes us who we are today! This leads me to the belief that all people are capable of becoming their best selves, and I hope to help others to achieve this by looking at their past negative experiences and trauma that hold them back.
I have been actively involved in this field through volunteering or odd jobs since I graduated high school. I have worked with adults, teens, children, and families to manage their responses to events through many different modalities. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), a gold standard treatment to help adults, children, and teens to reprocess trauma that can lead to depression, anxiety, and other ailments. I am also certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, another research based therapy to help children to learn skills and create their own narrative of their trauma. On top of these types of therapies I have helped individuals and families experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression, anxiety, panic disorders, family stressors, and attachment trauma. My approach to therapy begins with answering the question “what happened to you?” instead of “what’s wrong with you?”
I enjoy going to the gym, taking walks on the beach, and finding new, small coffee shops to try around the neighborhood. I enjoy anime, Marvel, DC, and love going to conventions. I try to spend most of my free time with friends and family, and my ultimate goal is to own a therapy dog one day!
I look forward to meeting with you and cannot wait to start this journey with you!

Your growth as a person comes from a non-judgmental environment, where you are free to be yourself, flaws and all! Our goal will be to have an unbiased viewpoint to help you navigate your life changes, trauma, and daily stressors. You deserve to be met where you are rather than forcing changes you may not be ready for. Creating an open and trusting environment is what I strive to create for my clients to grow to their fullest potential, while making therapy an enjoyable process! I love to joke around with my clients as I believe humor can relieve the tension and discomfort that can come with the therapy process.
My experience for the last 7 years has allowed me to see the good, the bad, and the ugly of therapeutic experience.I specialize in substance and alcohol use disorders, as well as helping individuals navigate life transitions and the mental stressors these problems come with. I work with students, parents, families, and couples.
I love being a therapist and I love what I do! In my personal time and life outside of the office, you can find me at the beach with my dog and my husband, on a hiking trail, or browsing the aisles of TJ Maxx and Home Goods. I also enjoy reading and cooking and of course binge-watching shows on Netflix. I can't wait to meet you!
